Do you have a film ready for distributing? There are eight festivals you could apply for this month. There are two opportunities for pitching and submitting projects, and 11 Festivals dedicated to animation around the world that you can visit.

Current Opportunities

Project registration for MIFA Pitches 2019 at the Annecy Int’l Animation Film Festival is now open to short film, feature film, TV series/TV special, and interactive/transmedia concepts seeking support. Last year, 37 pitches were selected out of 468 entries. Deadline: February 4, 2019 . https://www.annecy.org/take-part/submit-a-project

Stuttgart – German and international producers can now submit projects for which they are seeking coproduction and financing partners to the 13th Animation Production Days (APD), the most important business platform in Germany for animation projects. Animation Production Days is taking place from 1–3 May 2019 in Stuttgart as part of the 26th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (30 April – 5 May 2019) and FMX – Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media (30 April – 3 May 2019). www.animationproductionday.de

Annie Awards – 2nd Feb 2019, ASIFA-Hollywood – https://annieawards.org/ The Annie Awards is ASIFA-Hollywood’s most glamorous event. Each year we dress up and get together like the other academies to honor our stars. In fact, the Awards are so much a part of our organization, we tend to forget there was a time before the Annies.

Animotion – 2nd Feb 2019, Italy – http://www.animotionfilmfest.com/ Animotion Film Festival is a competitive Film Festival dedicated to 2/3D/VFX Animation and Stop Motion Films. It will be held in the prestigious Cinema de La Compagnia in Florence from afternoon to midnight.

VOID International Animation Film Festival – 24th Jan to 2nd February 2019, Denmark – https://voidfilmfestival.com/en/ VOID is showcasing the best and most interesting feature length animation for adults from all over the world, any kind of genre, any kind of technique. Join us annually at the heart of Copenhagen, capital city of Denmark.

Rising of Lusitania – Animadoc Film Festival – 1st to 3rd February 2019, Liverpool, UK – http://animadocff.wixsite.com/animadoc Rising of Lusitania – AnimaDoc Film Festival is the international animation film festival which is focuses entirely on this unique genre combining animation and documentary. The base of the Rising of Lusitania – AnimaDoc Film Festival is international competition dedicated entirely to animated documentaries.

The VFX Festival – 6th to 7th February 2019, London – https://www.pearsoncollegelondon.ac.uk/escape-studios/the-vfx-festival.html Escape Studios, part of Pearson College London, introduces the annual VFX Festival, which celebrates the best in VFX, Games, Animation and Motion Graphics.

Manipulate Festival – 2nd to 12th Feb 2019, Edinburgh, Scotland – https://manipulatefestival.org/ Produced by Puppet Animation Scotland, manipulate celebrates and promotes puppetry, visual theatre and animated films to its audiences. Through manipulate’s works-in-progress platforms and its workshops programmes we provide development opportunities for Scottish-based artists to develop their creative and technical working practices and ambition.

Fluxus Animation Festival – 16th feb 2019, Zaandam, Netherlands – https://filmfreeway.com/fluxus Organised by the FluXus art center in Zaandam, the festival will take place in only one day. There will be multiple screenings for both children and adults, and the audience will vote for the best film.

Toronto Animation Arts Festival International (TAAFI) – 15th to 17th Feb 2019, Toronto – https://www.taafi.com/ TAAFI’s mandate is to showcase and celebrate the best of animation arts from around the world in one of the leading animation hubs in North America: Toronto, ON, Canada.

Move Summit – 21st to 22nd Feb 2019, Edinburgh, Scotland – https://www.movesummit.co.uk/ MOVE Summit is Scotland’s premiere animation gathering. MOVE is a two-day festival of talks, masterclasses, workshops and screenings that bring together animation industry leaders, practitioners, students and creative educators to celebrate innovative animation in all it’s forms.

Animac: International Animation Festival – 21st to 24th Feb 2019, Lleida, Spain – http://www.animac.cat/ Animac is the International Film Festival of Animation in Catalonia, and is organized by the Lleida City Council and Generalitat of Catalonia. Over the years, Animac has consolidated its independent and artistic character.

Glasgow Film Festival – 20th Feb to 3rd March 2019, Glasgow Scotland – https://glasgowfilm.org/glasgow-film-festival This is a film festival but with a specific animation category
